Dwayne A. Haywood is the right choice for MCC!
For 25-years, Dwayne Haywood has called Macomb County home and watched it grow through smart investments, a commitment to growth, and accountable local leadership. He wants to help keep that progress going — this time as an advocate voice for the community college that trains much of the county's future workforce.
With deep expertise leading large public organizations, for 33 years, he was a servant leader across Michigan's state and county human-services systems, retiring as a senior director. His leadership included direct oversight of human-services operations across 100 field offices, 3,000+ employees and 40 county directors, and fiscal responsibility for budgets over $100 million.
Passionate about helping others, his specialization is managing large matrix organizations to deliver best-in-class results through enhanced technology and clear expectations to accomplish the life-changing mission of delivering quality benefits to Michigan residents. A staunch education advocate, his candidacy is based on a fundamental belief we should use all the tools at our disposal to deliver the best outcomes for the tax dollars entrusted to leaders to improve the conditions and lives of our residents.
That experience, combined with a commitment to our local communities and expanding post-graduation opportunities for students, is exactly what MCC's board needs: someone who has actually run large public sector organizations, not just observed one. In both his personal and professional life, he believes leadership, focus and attention to detail are what get results, and Macomb County deserves that same discipline on its community college board.

As a MCC Trustee, Dwayne will prioritize transparent and responsible financial management, ensuring every dollar benefits our students and educators. He is uniquely prepared to safeguard and wisely manage your tax dollars.
Public Service
Dwayne understands the importance of discipline, leadership, and brings an authentic commitment to public service. He has dedicated his entire career serving in various leadership roles utilizing his expertise to deliver best-in-class results.
Military Veteran
A servant leader, Dwayne's grounding was birthed in principles and training gained from his military service. A proud veteran and ardent supporter of our military, he is a decorated U.S. Army veteran and later served in the Army Reserve.
Family and Faith
Married 35 years to Regina, an educator, Dwayne is blessed to be the loving father of three adult children — Dwayne II, Aaron and Brooklyn. He is also a long-time member and trustee at one of the region's most respected churches, Second Ebenezer Church.
